Message from the committee
This year is winding to a furious end and if you are American now is probably a good time to get drunk. Down South though its starting to heat up and I for one am looking forward to delicious, thirst quenching IPA's and Pale ales that come with the warmer weather!
Its a busy time of year for most so here is a little TLDR for those in a hurry:
- Upper Highway brew tour (7 November): transport is being finalised chat to Waz urgently if you have not confirmed your seat
- Last BTS competition entries are due in just under a month (25th November), get those IPA's and Pale Ales started
- DHB has some really great new π T-Shits on sale. Stocks from the first print run are running low so order now

Finally, the committee is in need of extra hands. We would love to do more stuff but this is a part time gig for all of us and the only way we can make that happen is if we have some extra hands to share the load. If you want to help out, or you would like to nominate somebody please reply to this email and let me know. #MDHBGA (Make Durban Home Brewers Great Again)

π€ Next Meet
Our next meet will be the upper Highway Brew Tour. RSVP has passed but since seats will be determined by the size of the transport organised there might still be a couple of open seats with your name on them. Reach our to Waz (061 998 8108) for inquiries.

Continuing the spate of great submissions our judges were once again treated to some expertly crafted beer for this round of the competition. Thanks again to Trevor of 1000 Hills Chef School for hosting us, and to the Judges for doing the hard work of rating some fantastic brews.

BeerBros BTS Challenge #4: Pale Ales & IPAs π
What is BTS?
Every 3 months the club runs a Brew To Style competition. Members can submit beer entries for a predetermined subset of styles chosen from the 2015 BJCP style guide and we will judge them. The top 3 beers earn their brewers a certificate, a gift voucher from BeerBros and bragging rights. Occasionally the winners even get a limited run at one of our local Craft Breweries! How's that for bragging rights? BTS is not all about glory though, its a great way to explore other beer styles, get meaningful feedback from your brewing peers and push your brewing to the next level. Join in!
How do I enter?
Choose from one of the acceptable styles below (you must specify the style for each entry), brew the hell out of it and then drop off 3 x 440ml bottles of your beer for judging. Entry fee is R50 per entry and you can enter as many beers as you like. Members get their first entry of the year free!
π Prizes
- Certificate and bragging rights - 1 of each brew entered
- Brewing supplies worth R350 from BeerBros

π Brewer of the Year Scorecard
Every year we award our most successful brewer with the HIGHLY coveted Brewer Of The Year title. Its a big deal, there is a trophy and everything. Scores are calculated by adding up your top 3 BTS scores over the course of the year, so you need to participate in at least 3 BTS competitions to be in the running.
